Difficulty: your brain looks for an individual equivalent for yerno, suegro, padrino, etc/el cerebro busca palabras equivalentes uno por uno
BUT  ENGLISH DOES IT ALL WITH AFFIXES/Ingles hace todo con prefijos y sufijos


Exercise :Repeat  those  first nine etc  words with the following affixes
Prefixes:
 Gran(d)- for 3 lineal generations:
los abuelos: grandparents, a grandparent, grandmother, grandfather, grandfathers, , etc etc  

los nietos: grandchild, grandchildren, grandson, grandsons   grandaughter, grandaughters, etcetc


Step-  for relationships deriving from remarriage.= the Spanish suffix-astro/a Think of cinderella! so: Stepfather, stepmother, stepchildren, stepson,stepdaughter,stepbrother, stepsister,etc
God-  for relationships deriving from baptism. Think of Al Pacino!



Say Godparent, Godparents, Godfather, Godmother, godchild, Godchildren, Godson, Godaughter, Godsons, etc
Half-  same as in Spanish : half brother, etc 




Foster- for relationships via fostering(=acojida).(Centuries old in England, relatively new in Spain(=acojida)) Say: Foster parents, fosterfather, foster- etc etc





Suffix 
-inlaw mother inlaw, brotherinlaw, soninlaw etc etc
for relationships from marriage/, como el Spanish adjective "politico"
Calcula primero el equivalente de  yerno, suegro, etc


Prefix 
Great- for extra generations  Great -granparents, great grand children :4 generations =vis-

Great -great - grandaparents: 5 generations, = tartar , and so on



NB :Dificultad para la vida real, mas alla de NB1: sugerencia del profe no aprender hasta que las circumstancias te obligan
Prefijos y sufijos tambien se aplican a diminutivos :

Tambien ajectivos y participios pasados: divorced, separated

Hay muchas estructuras  etc que no conoceis  aun , mas querria que usaiass la cancion para practicar este vocabulario con sufijos y afijos.

Trama : se dice que esto si paso  en el s.xix en the "Wild West" de las yankilandias : varon de 23 se casa con vuida bella de  30y  pocos. La nueva esposa tenia hija de 16+ , y el Padre de 40 años del primer hombre, viudo el, se enamora de esta ultima y se casa con ella, Los dos matrimonios tenien prole, ¿que relacion de parentesco tiene cada cual? ( el primero en casarse es su propio abuelo.Calcula.)

You also need this vocab: widow, = viuda; to wed, wed/wedded, wed/wedded = to marry=to get married, cf  a wedding=una boda;  wild=savage, not domesticated, in a natural state; idiom: a bouncing baby boy, to bounce = rebotar, like a ball;  idiom to keep s.o. on the run, = to keep them very busy, leave them no time; Note Dad=Father=Pa=Paw
